366 Days of 2012, Day 185 - Urban Relics

Once this service station owned by Mick Skorpos was once Adelaide's biggest and busiest.

It was ugly back then and it's even uglier now. Abandoned, left to wind blown leaves, litter and graffiti. Perhaps this is symbol of our transition to electric vehicles. Will the electric car leave a blight of similar abandoned service stations on suburban landscape? I hope not.

We drove past this station (which was affectionally known at the time as 'SKORPOS', but only now I realise why!) a few weeks ago - and I remember thinking almost the same thing as what you have written here! What did happen to once-biggest petrol station in Adelaide? For me it's more a case of not living in this part of Adelaide any more, so it silently slipped my mind.
